Project Based Learning

Project-based learning is an approach in which students actively face real-world problems, try to solve them in order to acquire a deeper knowledge.

Throughout our life we have experienced this approach so many times. I am very enthusiastic about using this method in my classroom.
I would like to make a comparison between traditional classroom learning and project based learning, because there are so many traditional teachers who stick to their method of teaching and don't change it.

Why Project-Based Learning Is Better Than Traditional Classroom Learning?

1. The first and foremost reason to use project-based learning is that it enables teachers and students to learn and adopt structures around projects rather than having lecture-based learning and reading-writing assignments of the traditional classroom learning. Students learn to comprehend the entire scope of the project and put the execution into a structure under guidance of their teachers.

2. Project-based learning focuses on enabling student to face real world situations simulated in the forms of the projects. Students learn while doing what they know and develop new learning around hobbies, passions.

3. It greatly impacts the development of interpersonal skills of the students. Students need to structure their efforts in organizing their survey required for the projects, analyze the survey results. In different stages of the project they improve their communication skills.

4. Project-based learning develops greater depth of understanding the concepts than in traditional classroom-based learning. Real world situations given in the project are more capable to draw students’ attention and capture their interest.

5. Another great reason to go for project-based learning is that projects are chosen by the students or assigned by the teachers according to their interest. It gives students unique ways of solving different problems, where as traditional classroom-based learning has question/answer, essays and exam writing, including assignments given to all students of the class.

In short, we can say Project-Based Learning integrates knowing and doing, students apply what they know to solve problems with intentions to produce results that matter.
See you!
