The benefits of using PowerPoint
There is no doubt that the interest in technology education is rising. Nowadays it is a must to use technology in classroom.
Using PowerPoint in our presentations has become something usual because it is an easy program to use. Although it is an easy program, we, the teachers to be should be very careful in order for the lesson to be accomplished effectively.
Teachers should create PPTs that use pictures to reinforce content and that enable students to apply the information presented. Also the students should be encouraged to think critically about the content presented.
PowerPoint allows us to use images, audio and video so students will have a greater visual impact. These visual and audio cues also help a presenter to be more improvisational and interactive with the audience. However, I think that we shouldn't rely on these sources completely because the message might get lost in the clutter.
The advantages of using PowerPoint in the lesson are:
Firstly, making the presentation more interesting through the use of multimedia can help to improve the audience's focus.
Secondly, it is easy to create colorful, attractive designs using the standard templates and themes, easy to modify compared to other visual aids, such as charts, and easy to drag and drop slides to re-order presentation.
Thirdly, the teacher can easily present and maintain eye contact with a large audience by simply advancing the slides with a keystroke, eliminating the need for handouts to follow the message.
All you have to do is make learning a little more fun and students will enjoy coming to class as well as learning!
P.s: Never read your PowerPoint, that is what creates “Death by PowerPoint!”
